Housekeepers( 4) - The International Committee of the Red Cross


The ICRC Delegation in Libya has a vacancy for:
4 Housekeepers

The position will be based in the Tripoli Sub Delegation

 

 

Minimum Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • High school level
  • Similar work experience desirable
  • Basic knowledge of English
  • Good physical condition

 

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
“Domestic Staff”

Main responsibilities:

Provides cleaning/house keeping/laundry services for the ICRC premises
Prepares coffee and tea if assigned at the office
Informs the supervisor about damages on the building as well as needed equipment.
Knows the place of fire extinguisher and how to use them

Performs job with hygiene standard (water, washing, etc)

Answers the phone during working hours if assigned at the residence

Specific tasks:

Daily:
– Cleans kitchen / bathrooms / toilet ( twice a day )
– Prepares coffee, tea etc ( upon request )
– Cleans the handles of doors or other ( 2 times a day for bathrooms and general halls)
– Cleans the floor ( Main entrance 2 times a day )
– Trash can ( toilet garbage 2 times a day )
– Cleans the mirrors
– Empties paper basket, asthray ( 1 to 2 times a day )
– Takes care of water reserves
– Makes sure all lamps are turned off in the evening and doors are locked.

Weekly:

– Washes towel ( 2 times a week )
– Cleans glass panes ( 1 to 3 times a week )
– Cleans windows, balcony, mainly kitchen
– Cleans high places
– Empties trash containers
– Changes bed sheets ( Every week and departure of the Guest)
– Cleans fridges, ovens ( inside )
– Controls gas in the kitchen ( Every Thursday )

Monthly:

– Cleans window fan
– Cleans ceiling fan
– Cleans cupboard upper & lower
– Cleans walls, doors
– Washes curtains
– Checks the cleaning products ( inform the direct supervisor to provide )

Administrative tasks:

– Under Administration supervision
– Flexibility – available to be assigned to another residence or office

General Duties and Code of Conduct:
• Maintains awareness of the delegation’s objectives and activities
• Handles general and individual information accurately and with confidentiality;
• Understands the three components of Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
• Strictly and consistently applies ICRC security rules, ICRC staff regulations, ICRC Code of Conduct as well as all relevant ICRC technical rules and procedures
• Always show due respect to all colleagues, interlocutors and members of the general public, regardless of opinion, status, gender, nationality and/or ethnic origin; the ICRC considers non-respect of other persons as a serious professional mistake, which can lead to dismissal
• Avoid any kind of links with groups whose activities are not in accordance with ICRC principles and/or which could be detrimental to its image

The employee may be asked to perform professional duties and tasks not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.

Official working hours are Sundays to Thursdays 08.30 -17.30 (one hour lunch break)
