NRC has been operating in Libya since 2018 with offices in Tripoli and Benghazi. NRC is providing assistance to Libyan IDPs, returnees and host communities in Benghazi and Tripoli with potential expansion to adjacent districts. NRC Libya is working to deliver variety of programming across the following sectors: Shelter, Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance Technical Assistant (ICLA), and Education. In the course of 2019 options for expanding programming to support the migrant and refuge population will be developed.
Background
Volunteer teachers will work under the supervision of the NRC Libya education team to prepare and teach non- formal education lessons to be delivered in person or by distance. Teachers will assist in the planning, organization and delivery of educational activities for vulnerable, at-risk and out-of-school children with a focus on BLN and remedial classes. They will also work to support and improve school access and attendance, monitoring mechanisms and support communication with parents. We are looking for one English Language Teacher.
Expectations/ Roles and Responsibilities
The daily worker will be under direct supervision of the [Education Technical Assistant]. He/she shall:
- Adhere to the NRC Code of Conduct for non-staff representing NRC and the Child Safeguarding
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons (in person or by distance) according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of
- Plan, prepare and deliver (in person or by distance) BLP
- Instruct students using improved teaching methods, as trained by NRC, with a focus on child-centred, active learning and positive disciplinary techniques.
- Assign and mark work carried out by his or her
- Assess, record and report on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s
- Monitor and register attendance of students, following up with parents when
- Share regularly (every week) student attendance and BLP assessment with NRC education
- Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments and reports relating to individual students or groups of
- Maintain good order and discipline amongst students while safeguarding their health and safety at all
- Conduct awareness raising activities planned by NRC (in person or by distance).
- Attend NRC trainings on topics such as psychosocial support, child protection, and teaching
- Assist with distributions of teaching and learning
- Report any cases of mistreatment or abuse of children to NRC staff
- Report cases of children that require special attention to NRC for
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, teachers and the

Required professional competencies
