Reading stories help in developing reading skills and reading habit among children and supports their development of language proficiency. Recognizing the great impact of storytelling especially in the time of COVID[1]19. UNICEF LCO will develop a children’s story book. A consultant is required to lead the development of the book. The main objective of this consultancy is to develop and design a Trilingual children’s book with original characters and illustrations (25-30 pages) aimed at primary school age children (6-12 years) that is also child-friendly and captures the imagination of children living in Libya and children in refugee and displacements context. How can you make a difference? The purpose of the assignment is to offer a way for children, parents and caregivers to together think about the questions the pandemic raises as well as learn about agreed upon themes that focus on UNICEF areas of work. The book to consist of short stories (25-30 pages) and developed in three languages (Arabic, English and French). For this purpose, the project will engage different beneficiaries: Expected outcome: The consultant is expected to provide the following outputs: This consultancy is expected to initiate in June 2021 for 3 months, including a total of 21 days per month (home based). The consultant will report to UNICEF Communication Officer. To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Payments will take place against deliverables as per the following table every month upon submission of reports: First payment Desk phase and concept development: – Produce a concept note in English outlining the design of the book, story line/characters, sample illustrations and highlighting features that will make the book accessible for all children. – Develop a workplan for the duration of the contract towards achievement of the objectives Second Payment – Lead the development of the illustrations, formatting and adapting of the content and illustration. Third Payment – Ensure that final version of the book in an appropriate format for printing and electronic distribution. All deliverables as per scope of work must be satisfactory completed and accepted by UNICEF office in order to facilitate payment.
