Case Worker - Terre des Hommes - Italia


Job Description:

TDH-IT’s humanitarian relief operations in Libya began in 2018 and currently cover Al Jabal Al Gharbi, Al Margab, Azzawya, Misurata, and Tripoli. Libyan operations are focused mainly on Health, Education and Protection (CP, PSS, PFA) with Food Security and WASH components as required. TDH-IT continues to work closely with local councils/authorities and communities to provide humanitarian aid.

 

The Education Case Worker will be responsible for COVID-19 Child Protection and MHPSS response activities under TDH-IT’s Education Unit in Western Libya, including supporting children, caregivers, educators, and social workers with necessary case management, support groups, printed/digital materials, training and community awareness activities.

 

Under the Senior Management Team’s leadership, the Education Case Worker is responsible for general project activities in his/her area of responsibility. The Education Case Worker’s work will follow the TDH-IT rules and regulations and support the TDH-IT Delegation strategies in Libya.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Support the development of Child Protection/MHPSS activities complementing remote/distance learning activities
  • Facilitate virtual youth and caregiver support groups
  • Provide case management for children and caregivers participating in activities or referred by partner agencies
  • Participate in training related to Education and MHPSS provided by the organization and support educators, caregivers, and social workers in retaining and utilizing knowledge and skills from complementary training
  • Deliver training to the staff of volunteers that will support educators, caregivers, and Education Focal Points in delivering activities remotely and in schools/locations
  • Participate in the design, implementation and organization of the activities for the children in the schools/locations with the staff
  • Coordinate the designated teams in-charge of the implementation of the activities for whatever is related to the preparation, implementation and documentation of the activities and associated achievements
  • Report to the Head of Programmes to update on the progress of the activities, the relationship with the educators, the participation of the staff, the general situation of the different schools/locations
  • Be responsible for managing cases of children identified with Child Protection/MHPSS needs and/or further needs and follow established procedures for supporting the child
  • Follow up the cases to monitor the improvement of a child’s behaviour and overall wellbeing
  • Report punctually and maintain required documentation for operations

 Capacity Building:

  • Attend technical workshops and training, internal and external, related to Education Child Protection, and MHPSS
  • Assist in the creation of any project material, both technical and informational, in Arabic and/or English; French if possible
  • Support the staff to ensure the successful implementation of the activities
  • Report punctually on the status of the Education/Child Protection/MHPSS activities

 

Working hours:

  • 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, 5 days a week); flexibility required for weekends and evenings

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or study in psychology, pedagogy, social work or related (the degree is a good asset but also university students are invited to present their candidature)
  • Relevant training in MHPSS, Education, Child Protection, or Social Work
  • At least one years of experience in working with children and their parents/caregivers as educator, teacher, counsellor, psychologist, social worker
  • Experience as a trainer in child/adolescent contents
  • Previous experience with I/NGOs
  • Able to travel inside and outside the country
  • Fluent in Arabic and English; French (and any other language) is an asset
