Psychologist / Tripoli - Cesvi


Job Description

The project “Protection and Life Saving Assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Libya”, funded by UNHCR (DLBY033), intends to promote a favorable Protection environment for refugees and asylum seekers in Tripoli. Project activities are provided within the Community Development Center and the Social Centre.

The Psychologist will be in charge of providing Psychosocial Support to refugees and asylum seekers in need of specialized services, with the aim to strengthen their positive coping mechanism and their resilience process.

Safeguarding Policies

Cesvi has zero tolerance approach to any form of abuse and sexual exploitation as well as bullying and a range of non-sexual abuse of power perpetrated by Cesvi employee and related personnel against any individual (children and adults) regardless of age, gender, sexuality, disability, religion or ethnic origin.

Cesvi takes all the complaints and concerns about violence against children and SEA seriously and it initiates rigorous investigation of complaints indicating a possible violation of safeguarding policies as well as of Cesvi Code of Conduct and of Cesvi Ethical Code.

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Children Safeguarding Policy, PSEA Policy, code of conduct, and  report conce
  • Raise awareness of the affected communities about the safeguarding system and how to report concerns
  • Provide Resilience-Focused PSS to refugees in psychological distress through individual sessions at CDC and group support sessions at the CDC;
  • Provide technical support and guidance to CP and GBV Case Worker in dealing with cases of GBV survivors and children victim of violence, exploitation and abuse;
  • Organize training for and conduct regular coaching to Protection field staff on MHPSS, including provision of PFA, Mental health and Psychosocial wellbeing, and recognition of psychological symptoms related to traumatic experiences;
  • Participate to weekly case management supervision meetings with CP/GBV Supervisors and Case Workers when requested;
  • Closely coordinate with CDC Manager for planning and conduction of awareness-raising activities;
  • Represent CESVI in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation with local partners and other relevant actors;
  • Closely coordinate with CESVI staff in the CDC  to ensure proper coordination, including internal referral and follow up of cases;
  • Submit weekly/monthly  activity  reports  to  CESVI  management  on  the  progress  of psychosocial activities;
  • Fulfil any other duties relating to nature of the job as may be requested by the Supervisor for the best development of Cesvi activities.

Job Requirements

  1. University degree in psychology.
  2. At least 1 year experience with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations
  3. Experience in handling cases is an asset.
  4. Trainings in child protection and/or GBV minimum standards and gender mainstreaming are an asset.
  5. Previous experience of work with migrant and refugee communities is an asset.
  6. Good understanding of Protection Principles and Case Management standards
  7. Good command of written and spoken English.
  8. Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness campaigns
  9. Good computer skills especially Microsoft packages.
  10. Good organizational and management skills.
  11. Ability to work with minimum supervision
