INTERSOS is one of the world’s leading humanitarian relief and development organizations. Founded in 1992 in response to the Somali civil war and the severe drought conditions affecting the Horn of Africa, INTERSOS has since then grown in both size and status, acquiring further competencies and the skills necessary to meet most vulnerable people’s needs. Since 1992 INTERSOS carried out humanitarian aid projects in 45 countries and four continents. We currently provide first aid, food, shelter, medical assistance and basic goods. We ensure that basic needs such as education, access to clean water and health assistance, are met. The centrality of human being is, indeed, the key principle underpinning all INTERSOS’ values and interventions. It underlines the importance of the principles of equality, justice, peace, solidarity and the duty of every human being to help all those in need or distress, without influence of any kind. Distance learning on Moodle platform: Online learning is a democratizing and empowering learning tool, giving access to people who are in no means close to knowledge centers and resources and giving them the ability to control how and when they absorb the contents, tracking their progress and shaping their learning path. In times of movement restriction and physical social distancing, Moodle-based distance learning strategy represents both a tool to efficiently pursue one’s education and professional training without delays, both a virtual and safe social space within which one can interact with colleagues and exchange ideas, expertise and best practices. Given the fact that trainings delivered via Moodle can be administered and undertaken in any language from any location and at any time of the day, INTERSOS identified it as one of the best solutions to also cope with displacement, as well as electricity shortages and connectivity issues. Thanks to this solution, indeed, education goes with both students, trainees and teachers, wherever they might move and whichever language they might speak. In the Libyan context, it indeed represents an effective solution to cope with the current Covid-19 related restrictions, the displacement, the curfews and the daily electricity shortages.
