Mentor JD - Moomken Organization for Awareness and Media


Background: Currently operational CSOs in Libya lack the skills, knowledge, and network to effectively advocate for human rights and democracy. Many individuals from these organizations are passionate and dedicated but lack a capacity for self-learning and CSOs struggle to find resources that can facilitate growth at a low cost.  In This project we will train individuals selected by their organizations in a training-of-trainers model. These representatives will be trained on the platform and how to navigate the curriculum to support the learning of others when they return to their organizations. After training, ToT participants (or local trainers) will train others within their organization with the support of mentors. Organization staff will complete the curriculum, increasing the impact of the project. Participants will assess the challenges and opportunities for human rights advocacy and democracy support in their communities and by contributing to local activities as well as the platform, take ownership of the success of both.

 

The Mentor will report to the Project manager and coordinator to provide supervision, guidance and coaching to the CSOs, and assure that they comply and follow toolkit,  and constantly calling   the CSOs while they writing their proposal and budget to make sure they following the procedures and maintain their performance in standards, while monitoring, racking and correcting them during the implementation phase.

Job overview

Mentors are the fundamental part for the success of this project, since they need to have all the knowledge of trainers, managers and monitors.

However, they will make sure that all participants fully understand the training and will comply with the toolkit,  and following up according to their needs, if any case of confusion took place, they need clarify it, and work by all mean to solve and assure they fully understand the procedures, phases and what to deliver and when.

Their main duty to provide guidance, support, assist, and monitor the participant of the CSOs

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand the toolkit and can give clear explanation to CSOs.
  • Attend the training to Guide and coach the CSOs.
  • Help the CSOs to write their proposal and budget and push them to solve their own problem, rather than give direction.
  • Monitor the progress of the CSOs after the training, and constantly assisting and following up to keep them on track and provide support.
  • Send reports for every CSOs during all phases of the project.
  • Responsible to deliver the CSOs proposals in times in compliance with toolkit and procedures.
  • Develop mutual trust, respect and maintain confidentiality with the CSOs.
  • Assist in any other work when it’s needed in the field.

  • Position Reports to: Project Manager

    • Internal: Program coordinator and Project manager, M&E officer

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or held certification in project management.
  • 1-2 years of experience developing\design projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in writing reports.
  • Previous experience in project design or involved in such activities.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work with Adobe pack.
  • Previous experience in mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
  • Clear understanding of democracy, and Human rights and labor.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic required.
  • Ability to work underload and stress environment.
  • Good speaker and can influence people and maintain good relations over time.
