Communications & Social Media Officer – Tripoli - International Medical Corps


Position Title: Communications & Social Media Officer.

Reports to: Country Director.

Fieldsite: Tripoli

Date Needed: ASAP

 

Job Summary:

Under the broad guidance of the Country Director and SMT members and in the framework of IMC procedures set at HQ level, assumes responsibility for implementing communication strategies to promote IMC Libya and its specific activities (COVID-19 response). The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining and developing social media sites.

Main Tasks:

Program Communications for Advocacy and Awareness The Communications & Social Media Officer will work closely with the IMC Libya Country Director and SMT members to ensure that relevant program materials such as human interest stories, donor reports, proposals, factsheets, and infographs are developed and disseminated to external stakeholders and target groups through relevant media and network channels. The Communications/Social Media Officer will assist the Programs Department in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.

Digital Communications/Social Media:

Maintain and/or develop IMC Libya social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) including daily monitoring, posting, and content development.

Brand and Communications:

Ensure timely and quality production of branding materials such as periodicals and annual reports (to the exclusion of official reports as per contractual agreement with donors), supplements, briefing notes, human interest stories, picture stories, videos, etc. addressed to public opinion, external stakeholders, Libyan authorities, donors. The Communications Officer will develop and archive communication materials, including digital, such as publications, press releases and clippings, photographs, audio-visual materials, web resources, etc.

Donor Relations:

Support preparation of background materials, briefs, and information kits for donors and high profile
guests/visitors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills and proficiency.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Advanced working knowledge of at least one photo editing software.
  • Basic design and layout skills.
  • Demonstrated and extensive social media experience (please add any useful link to your appliclation).
  • Previous experience in media sector is an added advantage.

 

Other Comments:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel composed by Country Director (or his delegate), HR, and another member of IMC Libya.
  • Those selected after the first interview will be invited to attend a digital test of around 2 hours. During the test, candidates will be requested to prove their technical capacity by:
  • Drafting a half page press release (in English) based on information (in Arabic) provided by IMC
    Libya.
  • Draft a one page response based on material provided by IMC Libya.
