Program Officer Health&Water/Care Group Supervisor - Feed the Children




Reporting to: Area Program Coordinator (APC), Food and Nutrition (F&N) and Health and Water (H&W) Pillar Manager.
Location: Bisil -Kajiado County
Purpose:
To ensure successful implementation of Health & Water Project activities in the communities for sustainable access to safe water, improved WASH and Nutrition practices through the FEED school health program based on the Personal Hygiene and Sanitation Education (PHASE) approach for the Children in its partner schools.
Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate proper planning, implementation and monitoring of program activities.
Ensure excellent program implementation following approved FEED strategies
Provide direct oversight of H&W programs following approved FEED strategies, GOK. regulations, WHO and the SPHERE standards.
Prepare and present monthly work plans based on the approved DIP.
Consult with the sub-county department of health, support community health strategy activities and ensure adequate reporting.
Conduct Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) interventions and facilitate declarations of ODF Villages
Assist during preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and designs for identified water and sanitation infrastructure and specification of procurement needs.
Carry out regular and timely preparation of monitoring reports for on-going activities
Ensure timely submission and verification of community Health Unit reports on KHIS.
Enhance the performance and professional development of Care group promoters

· Represent FEED at relevant County & Subcounty technical & stakeholder forums.
· Carry out support supervision visits, monitor and evaluate progress in the Care groups
· Facilitate preparation of participatory learning sessions with the Care Group promoters
· Attend scheduled training and reporting meetings provided by the supervisor and the module training sessions to accurately replicate trainings given the CGVs, sharing correct information and demonstrating skills learned.

Facilitate quality delivery of EHA/ENA modules through CHS (CG) by CGV/CHVS using the QIVC
Coordinate and Participate in project assessments and evaluations carried out in the program area as agreed by supervisor.
Establish and sustain working relationships with GOK Departments and relevant Agencies relevant to the program’s focus area at the Ward, Sub County and County levels
Participate in developing of timely& accurate funding proposals.
Gather and provide quality feedback and data to be used to develop technical papers and recommendations on key issues for external engagement with decision-makers
Documenting of best practices, Success stories challenges & lessons learnt and propose remedial measures during implementation of activities.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and other relevant certification where applicable.
· At least three (3) years working experience in community-based Water Sanitation & Hygiene interventions, and Community Nutrition.
· Relevant experience in Community participation in development and resource mobilization Experience in grant management and proposal writing is preferred
· Experience in training using participatory adult learning methodologies.

Good understanding of behavior change communication models/ approaches

· Self-reliance and an ability to work in a challenging and demanding environment
· Experience in rural/community water supply systems and technology desirable· Competence in analytical computer software, data analysis, and communication skills.
· Strong project management skills and report writing.
· Experience working with County government and local implementing partners.
· Affiliation to relevant technical working groups is an added advantage.
· Good knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and safeguarding policies.
