Non-Technical Survey Operator - The Danish Refugee Council (DRC)



The Non-Technical Survey Operator is responsible to monitor all activities of his respectful team and assist in all aspects related to mine action in the Libyan context to fully support DDG’s mine action operations. NTS Operator shall coordinate with appropriate local or competent authorities, DDG operations, HMA Operations Coordinator and safety department to ensure that it is safe to conduct survey work in an area and to avoid disruptions in the work of the authority, the police or the military.
 
Responsibilities: 
•    Gathering geographic information about mine affected communities, threats from mines and UXO, technical information, socio-economic conditions, follow up activities and impact of DDG activities on the communities, including information concerning mine and UXO accidents
•    Establishing a wide information network including authorities, communities, NGOs, and other possible sources of information
•    Serving as a liaison point for local representatives at different levels, in assigned areas of responsibility
•    Assessing needs at village and commune levels, and establishing priorities in cooperation with all stake holders at the local level
•    Analyzing  gathered data, and where necessary dissemination of information
•    Ensuring that the HMA OC, TA and OM are fully briefed on all issues relating to Non-Technical Survey
•    Cooperating and coordinating closely with all HMA activities
•    Ensuring that all information collected is accurately recorded and standard formats for reporting are followed by his team
•    Coordinating Community Liaison and Mine Risk Education presentations in area of responsibility when required
•    Responsible for own and other team members safety
•    On daily bases reports fully to Data Base Officer DBO, HMA OC, TA, and OM
•    Any other duties as directed by the TA or OM
About you: 
•    National staff member, knowledge of English language is an asset
•    Prior knowledge of non-technical survey and community support activities
•    Sound knowledge of Mine Action Standards
•    Knowledge of Mines and UXO encountered in Libya, basic understanding of military operations
•    Knowledge of clearance and support equipment utilized in DDG’s operations is an asset
•    Sound knowledge of topography and map drawing, basic handling of compass, GPS and basic digital camera
•    Computer literate, MS Office
•    Must be able to write reports
•    Driving license
•    Team-player who accepts lines of management and is able to command authority him/herself.
•    Well organized, proactive, flexible and trustworthy.
•    Physically fit
 We are also expecting: 
•    MRE Qualification
•    Basic Life Support Qualification
•    High degree of computer literacy

We offer :
Contract length: 6 months
Designation of Duty Station: Benghazi, Libya.
