Center Manager -Sebha - INTERSOS



Job Purpose:
In accordance to the instructions received by and under the supervision of INTERSOS Protection Program Coordinator, the Centre Manager/Educator will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all INTERSOS educational and protection activities within the centre.  Currently this includes learning support services and PSS activities, alternative educational and protection pathways.
He/She will ensure provision of a safe and quality educational learning environment which fosters a sense of comfort, security and a sense of normalcy and will work to improve the level of general well-being of children and youth in the centre.
Generic Duties:
The Centre Manager/Educator Officer will provide overall supervision, mentoring and support to all the INTERSOS staff deployed in center of excellence.  S/he will also guarantee proper evaluation of the impact of the intervention.
The Center Manager is responsible for all matters related to the Centre, including:

Manage centre’s effective functioning, physical safety and expansion.
Participate in recruitment of all centre staff, according to INTERSOS principles and standards.
Plan, design and implement interactive teaching and learning strategies designed to enhance learning, improve the overall well-being of students and encourage a sense of normalcy for vulnerable children.


Guarantee the implementation of the SOPs about CP  procedures and the standard of quality of the activities in terms of PSS, Education, referral system and coordination;


Ensure coordination with other (education/protection) and other service providers in the same area if any.
Promote and support adherence to agreed interagency Child Protection standards.

 
Specific Duties:

With the support and under the supervision of the PPC, design and follow up the plan of actions to guide and monitor the implementation of education and protection activities;
Supervise social workers and monitor the activities and ensure achieving the project’s objectives according to the agreed on indicators;
Ensure equal access for girls and boys through intensive community outreach, arranging and providing other gender-based considerations as deemed necessary.
Manage scheduling, attendance, performance and payment (TBD) of Centre workers (Guards, Cleaner, Social Workers, Drivers, etc..) in coordination with INTERSOS program management team.
Provide support through guidance and advice for teachers/social workers, case managers and facilitators as needed.
Identify skills that need improvement and development within the four main subjects (Arabic, English, Science and Math) and according to the context.
Inform the PPC on CP cases identified for the referral to the most appropriate service providers;
Sensitize the community informing about the center activities encouraging participation;
Ensure a proper participation in any organized assessments on CP, and vulnerability conducted in the area of operation, including coordination meeting when required;
Design a variety of entertainment and attractive activities for students.
Provide to INTERSOS PPC detailed weekly report including all data, activities and events that have been carried out during the whole week.
Prepare monthly comprehensive report regarding activities, achievements, progress and challenges to be shared with the PPC;

In addition, the CENTRE Manager will have the following specific responsibilities:

Security Focal Point, in case of any emergency situation with the responsibility to provide instructions and direction to all the people present in the center;
In conjunction with the Project Manager, responsibility to interact with Local Authorities and community for any matter related to the Center;

S/he will perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor in the framework of the activities foreseen by INTERSOS program in Libya.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in social studies, education, humanitarian actions or any related field;
Ideally at least 4 years of professional experience as center manager, school principal or similar;
Extensive field experience working with children with different ages;
Proven experience in dealing with community members, local leaders and other stakeholders;
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities, deadlines and tasks with attention to details;
Experience in conducting research, assessments and interviews is a strong asset;
Ability to communicate effectively with variety of people, and express oneself in a clear and concise way;
Strong communication and reporting skills;
Excellent Arabic spoken and written language skills. Ability to communicate and write in English is mandatory;
Good command of MS Office package;
Excellent team working skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure;
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
Ability to work under high pressure and in insecure environment;
