The ICRC Delegation in Libya has a vacancy for:Communication Field Officer The position will be based in the Sabha Sub Delegation
The successful candidates will contribute to implementing communication activities, under the supervision of the management of the field structure (sub-delegation) and the communication coordinator. S/he contributes to representing the ICRC externally and building the necessary understanding and acceptance of and support for the ICRC among key stakeholders, as follows:
Contributes to implementing relevant activities and developing tools for: public communication, digital communication and analysis/environmental scanning.
Field operational communication, promoting international humanitarian law (IHL), and building National Red Cross/Red Crescent Society communication capacities.
Supports the Head of the relevant sub-delegation and communication coordinator in networking with relevant leaders, influencers and organizations in the geographic area covered.
Represents the ICRC to relevant external audiences, with the aim of enhancing ICRC acceptance and promoting IHL, where required.
Contributes to the analysis of the political, humanitarian, and socio-economic developments with the aim of improving understanding of the local and country-wide environment, and the ICRC’s perception/reputation issues with the aim of improving safe and unimpeded access to populations in need of humanitarian assistance.
Provides technical and administrative support on communication matters (e.g. filing, stock management, event organization).
Interprets and translates from and into the local language to support communication programmes, when required.
Required background, skills and experience:
University degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as communications, political science, international relations or journalism.
2-3 years of work experience in a similar field.
Basic international humanitarian law (IHL) knowledge an asset.
Familiarity with online and social media communication tools.
Sound knowledge of the political, social and media environment in the country/region covered.
Ability to travel inside and outside Libya a must.
Experience working for a NGO or international organization an asset.
Very good command of written and spoken Arabic.
Good command of written and spoken English.
Very good computer skills.
Very good knowledge of geographically-assigned environment.
Very good analytical skills.
Methodical and good sense of initiative.
Interest in humanitarian activities (especially ICRC’s).
