ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordination:

Participate and represent IMC in relevant coordination platforms at national and regional level

Technical Support:

Provide technical oversight of all protection monitoring activities in compliance with core protection principles
Provide technical support to protection mainstreaming activities
Assist in the design and contextualizing of all monitoring tools, guidelines, and SOPs in line with international standards, IMC’s policies, and best practices and ensure the technical objectives and quality are in place with the methods and tools.


Promote improved understanding of protection issues among relevant stakeholders and ensure the observance of international protection and humanitarian law standards.


Ensure that ethical and statistically-sound data collection and protection-related information management systems are in place and used for analysis, planning, and evaluation.


Provide technical lead to protection monitors and protection team leaders for daily humanitarian needs monitoring in detention centers, and disembarkation points, including developing appropriate tools to inform program design as well as identify risks and vulnerabilities, including those related to age, gender and diversity.


Contribute in programmatic plans for outreach teams related to community-based interventions and initiatives in urban areas


Under the guidance of the Protection/GBV Specialist develop guiding documents and SOPs for the best practices for refugees and migrants to be in place for both detention and urban context


Develop and facilitate trainings, workshops, and awareness raising for staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders Ensure that protection is mainstreamed throughout all program activities and cycle (assessment, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and design).


Lead and contribute to protection assessments, mapping, identification and documentation of protection needs
Collaborate closely with project managers, M&E department, and Misrata Office to ensure technical rigor and the consistent application of IMC’s approaches, methods and tools for the protection activities

Program Support

Oversee implementation of project activities and work plan as per project documents
Support implementation and ensure adherence to work plans, spending plans and monitoring and evaluation plans.
Develop programme and monitoring tools in collaboration with the Protection IMO and M&E
Team
Draft and contribute to weekly situation report and monthly project report, fact sheets, project update and input to other project monitoring tools

Management

Manage two protection monitoring team leaders and their day-to-day activities in the field;
Monitor the movements of the teams and ensure the safety measures are in place
Review the daily reports received from the teams and provide sound advices, identify the issues to follow-up, and

highlights the major issues to Protection/ GBV Specialist, Project Manager, and Program Director

Create a leave-tracker and ensure the leaves are scheduled in a coordinated manner among the teams
Ensure the HR procedures are in place with the protection team and adhered by the team members (leave requests, timesheets, overtime records, etc)


Conduct performance evaluations for the team leaders as per the HR procedures
Ensure the adherence of the teams to IMC’s codes of conduct, PSEA and child safeguarding standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Minimum a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution. Advanced university degree is preferred.
WORK:K
Minimum 3 years of experience in an entry to mid-level position, preferably with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee or IDP protection working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority.
Substantial strong staff and project management experience
Experience with design and implementation of protection interventions
Experience in psychosocial support, protection monitoring, and case management is preferred
Experience with capacity building and organizing and facilitating trainings and workshops.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with staff members and other stakeholders.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong written and verbal Arabic and English skills at advance and professional level is required for this position.
