General Information :
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international aid organization. Our teams are committed to supporting civilians’ victims of marginalization and exclusion, or hit by natural disasters, wars and economic collapses, by answering their fundamental needs. Our aim is to provide emergency relief to uprooted people in order to help them recover their dignity and regain self-sufficiency.
The association leads, on average, 190 projects each year in the following sectors of intervention: food security, health, nutrition, construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures, water, sanitation, hygiene and economic recovery. PUI is providing assistance to around 5 million people in 21 countries – in Africa, Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe and France.
PUI is launching a health intervention in Benghazi which aims to improve access to quality healthcare for populations affected by the ongoing conflict in Benghazi and its surroundings.
Tasks and Responsibilities :
1.Prepare meals for Staffs , including budgeting and grocery shopping
2.Ensure PUI Office and Guesthouse are clean according to hygienic standards
Specific goals and related activities
1.Prepare meals for Staffs and do the related groceries shopping
•Carry out the preparation of meals for staff
•Follow at all times all hygiene standards and security rules.
•Ensure meals to be served on time: set table before every meal and clean it up after each meal.
•Control stock of food so as to ask for anything needed on time and prepare shopping list and make purchases if required (once or twice a week)
•Ensure the provision of drinkable water during the day
•Ensure cleanliness of all facilities, utensils and equipment.
•Look after all equipment provided.
•Keep an inventory of kitchen utensils and equipment, i.e. plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc., and ensure its integrity.
•Report all important information (lost, robbery, damages, deterioration, incident, etc.) to superior
2.Ensure PUI Office/Guesthouse are clean according to hygienic standards
General tasks in all premises (Office/Guesthouse) :
•Cleaning and polishing all desks, floors, cupboards, shelves, work surface and filing cabinets.
•Sweep all rooms, dust desks and furniture on a daily basis
•Mop the floor and to clean windows and panes (inside & outside) when deemed necessary.
•Sweep and/or Mop the stairwell at least once a week.
•Collect garbage of dustbins on a daily basis and to take the rubbish out when deemed necessary.
•Clean and disinfect refrigerator when deemed necessary or at least on a bi-monthly basis.
•Defrost the refrigerator when deemed necessary or at least twice a year.
•Change and wash regularly towels
•Wash the curtains when deemed necessary
•Wash dishes regularly
Specific tasks related to Guesthouse and Expatriates :
•Wash clothes and bedsheets
•Wash by hand when specifically told.
•Iron expatriates staff’s clothes when required
In General, the Collaborator has to remain flexible and to perform any other duties as required for the good running of the mission
NB: This job description may be subject to modifications in the future, depending on the evolution of the activities. These modifications will then be defined and discussed between the Collaborator and PUI
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE : Proven Experience as cook
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
-Knowledge of cooking techniques different recipes (local and western food)
-Knowledge of basic Hygiene standards
-Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
-Ability to work with people from other countries and to adapt to their different habits
High School Degree
Knowledge of procedures related to institutional donors (ECHO, UN …)
Experience in working in International NGO
Experience in cooking or cleaning for Expatriates
Required Personal Characteristics (fitting into the team, suitability for the job and assignment)
Ability to work independently and with a sense of initiative and responsibility
High stress tolerance
Ability to help the employees when they are working in hard to ready for them their needing from kitchen.
Ability to work at any time even on the weekend if required and upon request to comes to office for emergency work.
Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
