For every child, a chance! The adolescent development and participation programme is a key component of the Libya Country Programme. The ADAP Specialist reports to the Chief of Education in Libya. How can you make a difference? The Adolescent Development Specialist reports to the Chief of Education for guidance and general supervision. A significant part of the work in youth is situated within an education context, with close linkages to Education outcomes. This is particularly related to the key focus on the development and delivery of life-skills programmes for adolescents and youth. The ADAP specialist also develops youth partnerships and networks across sections (Health, child protection, nutrition, WASH and social policy) to support and promote youth activities in Libya. The ADAP Specialist provides support to country office colleagues and internal and external partners and stakeholders throughout the programming processes by providing technical, administrative and operational support to ensure that adolescent development and participation and child rights established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/framework and UN intergovernmental bodies, are integrated in UNICEF’s advocacy, policies, programmes and humanitarian work. Key function, accountabilities and related duties/tasks: Support to programmes development and planning Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results Technical and operational support to programme implementation Networking and partnership building Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: anthropology, psychology, sociology, education or another relevant technical field (preferably in education). First level of relevant university degree in combination with seven (7) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five years of professional experience in adolescent development related areas is required. A minimum of three years of working with youth is required (for example, teaching or youth work) Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
